NO MAD Times and Spaces

Pop-up thinking spaces for world building.

Based on metaphors that shift mental maps, we create NO MAD Times and Spaces: transformative moments, public formats and pop-up thinking spaces dedicated to civic imagination.

01

intro

Not just events — playgrounds for world building.

These are not just events. They are playgrounds for world building — spaces where people of different backgrounds, ages and professions can come together in humanity, humility, humor and creativity to share, shift perspective, rehearse the Future together, and open the door to desirable futures.

02

WHY THIS MATTERS

Change the story, change the world.

Many of today's collective situations remain blocked not because people do not care, but because they remain trapped inside inherited assumptions, polarised narratives, echo chambers and familiar scripts.

Civic imagination matters because culture is also a set of stories — the invisible architecture of world building. So if we want to change the world, we must also change the story.

This is why we need dedicated spaces for the Future: places where private life and public life reconnect, and where we reclaim our role as civic actors responsible for shaping what comes next.
We need places where people can:

  • see the status quo with fresh eyes
  • revisit unexamined assumptions
  • attend unheard voices
  • articulate counter-stories that make radically different and desirable futures visible.
03

what it is

Where imagination becomes
a shared civic practice.

Civic Imagination gathers the Shapership formats designed to create NO MAD Times and Spaces: temporary but meaningful spaces where imagination becomes a shared civic practice rather than a private luxury.

These are spaces where people can rethink, re-engage and rewrite their relationship with the world as it is — and with the world as it could be. Not only to discuss the Future, but to begin reauthoring it.

They are not just events. They are platforms for world building, laboratories for imagining new ways to BE in the world, and visible spaces for the Present Future. Their purpose is not merely to gather people, but to help them revisit assumptions, notice emergent narratives, and prototype more life-giving ways of thinking and acting together.
04

what it offers

Civic Imagination takes six main forms.

The Shapership Saloon
Jazz & Collaboration Workshop
Public Thinker
Conferences
The Shapership Game
The Imagician
1
The Shapership Saloon
The room where it happens.
A pop-up thinking room for civic imagination and world building: a place where people can revisit unexamined assumptions, hear what is not yet heard, and imagine better forms of society together. It is a platform for Future-facing dialogue and shared sense-making.
How to engage — Host a Salon / Partner with us for a series.
2
Jazz & Collaboration Workshop
Jamming together.
A unique live, embodied and concrete experience using jazz as a metaphor for collaboration. Built around a commented concert, it helps groups move from silos to combos, from Command and Control to Focus and Freedom, and from separation and competition to agility, trust and true collective intelligence.
It is a living experience designed to shift mindsets, approaches and the quality of collaboration itself.
How to engage — Book a workshop for your team / community.
3
Public Thinker
A public seat for personal clarity.
A simple but powerful public practice. Jean-Louis Baudoin sits in public places — or in agreed settings — and helps people who feel stuck in a question, a choice or an impasse to reopen the space of thought.
Through cordial, creative and constructive conversations, it helps people clarify what matters, reformulate key questions, get out of an impasse, negotiate difficult situations, and reopen the field of possibilities. It is neither standard consulting nor coaching, but a public micro-practice of re-perception.
How to engage — Invite the format into a public space / festival / civic place, or book a series.
4
Conferences
New insights for foresight.
Talks, lectures and keynote interventions that shift perception and help people see the new world with new lenses. They help audiences move beyond stale scripts and open more future-facing conversations.
How to engage — Book a keynote / talk.
5
The Shapership Game
New points of view to shape the Future(s) — every day.
Within Civic Imagination, the Game functions as a shared vehicle for making mental maps visible, opening perspective, and creating movement where everything freezes. Used collectively, it becomes a practice of Altitude Attitude: a way to see what is, imagine what could be, and rehearse wiser futures together.
How to engage — Book a facilitated session / Explore the Game.
6
The Imagician
Where imagination becomes visible.
The Imagician creates poetic cartographies: images that make visible the mental landscapes we inhabit, shift perception, and open other possibilities. Here, the image does not illustrate an idea: it opens a space, acts as a threshold of perception, a trigger for imagination, an invitation to see otherwise.
How to engage — Invite the Imagician / imagine a poetic cartography / design a bespoke formate.

WHAT IT HELPS YOU DO

What Civic Imagination
helps groups and communities do.

revisit unexamined assumptions
escape echo chambers and inherited scripts
surface challenging and emergent narratives
prototype different ways of being and acting together
reconnect the personal, the political and the possible
carry shifts back into real life rather than leaving them inside the event.
06

WHAT IT GIVES YOU

What it gives you.

a fourth space dedicated to the Future
more supple and future-facing conversations
a shift you can name
new language for shared meaning-making
new prototypes, directions or narratives to carry further
more imaginative and collaborative civic presence

For youth and specific groups in need of reauthoring their Future, these formats also answer a vital need: to unlock imagination and create the erotica of the Future.

When imagination becomes collective,
it can begin to shape the world we live in.
